Once opon a time...- Our story

We are a small team full of creative heads. Being internationals ourselves, we as a group figured out that we have very common problems. The one recurring question in all our deeptalks was: What let us really feel home? We came to the conclusion that actually the people around you will make you feel home. In the Netherlands we had some friends, but still there was something missing - Dutch connections! We felt that as soon as you have the contacts to the national people, you will automatically feel more included. And all that starts with getting out of your comfort zone, approaching new people, embrace life and what it has to offer. And exactly this message, this way of thinking we want to spread all over the world: Be bold and start to mingle, because people make you feel home!

Our Vision

In a world where we are unknown and fearful to step out of our comfort zone, we believe that we must boldly and courageously approach new folks, because only then you form connections that make you feel at home, wherever you go.

Our Mission

We want to help you as an individual with your own precious personality to get out of your comfort zone and start to mingle with unknown people.

Our Persona

Hi, my name is Sita, I’m 31 years old and originally from India. I moved to the Netherlands 3 months ago to work here as an IT specialist (cause, to be completely honest, the wages are so much better om this side of the planet). I heard from many of my co-workers that the job perspectives are overall way better here. And I thought, I love travelling, have no family yet so why not moving abroad? I’m positively surprised by the Netherlands and the Dutch culture. However, it’s really hard for me to to get in contact with natives. Do you get the saying: je moet een dikke huid hebben? I am in desperate need of a Dutchie to explain that to me. Most of them speak English really well, but they make it hard to get very close to them and conquer their hearts. Maybe due to their direct way of approaching each other? I am not sure since that’s totally new for me to be honest (and another reason for me to get close to them). I try to get more contacts on Facebook and Instagram, but I couldn’t really find the right community yet. Most of the time I meet similar people as me, expats from India or other internationals, which is nice but I’m missing the Dutch spice. I’m physically very active, like hiking and working out and I would love to do that with a Dutch person to practice by Dutch in a playful way.

Our Values

bravery-value
Bravery

Living abroad shows bravery on its own. Now you need to take that one last step to share your bravery with others. Mingle with the people of your new country. This is how you make friends for life. Take the brave step to discover the people of the country. Then, you will learn to love the people and the country. Bravery is showing who you truly are with others. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Face your challenges and fears. Be part of the new community. By showing bravery you can overcome your fear of not fitting in. This opens a new world for you in your new country and will be your new home. Never give up and conquer your fears. Be bold abroad! Be brave!

Courage

Do you think you´re courageous? Courage is found in opening up to a new culture, a new country, and a new community with no backup. Navigating and settling into a different culture can be scary. Uncertain. Being truly yourself is in itself a major challenge. But being yourself while reaching out to people who already have their community figured out can feel like running into a wall. However, you can find wonderful people to connect with everywhere you go. Even if it doesn´t feel like that in the beginning. You just have to be courageous, be bold! Show persistence! Show up! And then you can also tear down walls.

open-mindedness-value
Open-mindedness

When you move to a new country, it's important to be open-minded and embrace different cultures. Connect with the local community by accepting their quirks and respecting their ideas and traditions. Working together as a community and individuals with no prejudices makes us open minded.

proactiveness-value
Proactiveness

Proactive people carry their own weather with them. You are in control, you are your freedom, so why not use it? It may seem easier to stay in your bubble, stay in your comfort zone and wait for chances, opportunities and people to save you. But be honest- does that really sound right to you? Probably not. Being proactive gives you the chance to create your life as you want it, wherever that is but don’t wait for the whenever. So go out there, get things done rather today than tomorrow because your own action can change your life!
